Lata Murugan grew up inside the machinery of Indian cinema. As the granddaughter of A. V. Meiyappan, founder of AVM Studios, one of the oldest surviving film studios in India, she learned early that filmmaking is not a single art, but the disciplined collaboration of many.
She went on to become Head of Direction at the L.V. Prasad Film & TV Academy, one of the country’s most respected film schools, where she taught and mentored a generation of directors. There she saw the same pattern repeat: brilliant students leaving with a single specialisation, unprepared for the all-round command a real set demands.
QURA is her answer. A school where a student learns to write, direct, shoot and cut, and graduates not with a certificate, but with six finished films and the confidence of someone who has actually done the work, on a real film city, beside the people who built the industry.
